Send Grandma a link. She taps record and reads. You get her voice on your child's Yoto, and she never had to install a thing.
Who it's for
Family Stories is for anyone who wants to preserve a voice, share a story, or create a memory that lasts. The person reading needs nothing but a phone and a link.
Record the bedtime stories only you can tell. There's no app to install and no account to create. You tap the link your family sent you and start reading.
Travelling for work? Record a week's worth of stories before you go. Your voice stays home even when you can't.
Bridge the miles with something more personal than a phone call. A recorded story is a gift that plays over and over.
Write and record original stories, chapter by chapter. Organise them, share them, or send them to Yoto for a truly personal listening experience.
How it works
No audio engineering degree required. If you can talk, you can do this. And if you can open a text message, you can be the one reading.
In the app, name the story and say who's reading it. Little Vox gives you a link to text or email them, or you can just record it yourself, right there.
The link opens an ordinary web page in whatever browser they already have. No download, no sign-up, no password. They press record and read.
When they're finished you'll know, and you can listen to it before anyone else does. Chapters recorded across several evenings all land together.
One tap puts it on a Make Your Own card. Or keep it, or forward it on to the rest of the family as an ordinary audio file. It's yours either way.
What it looks like
Built for real life
We designed this to feel as natural as picking up the phone, not like operating a recording studio. It has to work for a grandparent on a five-year-old iPad, first try.
A distraction-free recording page and nothing else on it. Pause when the dog barks, re-record a chapter you fluffed, and take as long as you like. The link stays open for a week and saves as you go, so closing the tab by accident costs you nothing.
No hardware needed
Family Stories works completely standalone. Save your recordings, share them as ordinary audio files, and build a family archive that grows over years. When you're ready, add a Yoto player to take it even further.
Record a special story every birthday year after year
A familiar voice for nights when you're not there
Send audio stories to grandchildren anywhere in the world
Build a collection of voices and stories across generations
Every part of this is free, as many stories as you like, as many people reading them as you like, sent to your Yoto as often as you like. There's no recording limit, no subscription, and nothing to unlock.
We thought about charging for it and decided against it. A grandparent's voice isn't the thing to put behind a paywall.
